13 May 2008 - Our friends from CHW has taken a snapshot on the upcoming desktop variant of the EeePC from ASUS. Known as the Eee BOX B202, it is using Intel Atom processor with 945 chipset, 1GB DDR2 memories, 80GB hard drive and runs on Linux. ASUS is slated to unveil it over at Computex in June.

12 May 2008 - Creative today announced the Creative Sound Blaster® X-Fi® Surround 5.1, the first USB 2.0 audio solution that provides users with the easiest upgrade from basic, built-in audio to the premium Xtreme Fidelity™ (X-Fi) audio experience for their PC and notebook. The Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 will be available in Singapore by end May 2008 for S$99.00.

12 May 2008 - We saw some mechanical designs on GT200 card leaked out on the internet and we can confirm it is not fake as we got the same file earlier last week from our reliable sources. The D10U card has a total of 16 memory chips onboard up to 1GB GDDR3 memories, in line with rumored 512-bit memory interface which we are hearing a while back. There are evidences suggesting that GT200 could be on both 55nm and 65nm process technology, a similar approach that Nvidia is going to take with their current G9x series. GT200 is currently on A2 revision and there is a high possibility that Nvidia might launch GT200 on 65nm first then move to 55nm at a later stage.

12 May 2008 - Nvidia is preparing two new mainstream cards, the GeForce 9500 GT and 9500 GS based on the new 55nm G96 cores. However, there will be a mixture of 65nm and 55nm G96 cores as revision A1 will be 65nm and revision B1 & C1 will be 55nm. GeForce 9500 GT codenamed D9M-30 will be clocked at 550MHz core and 800MHz GDDR3 on 128-bit memory interface while GeForce 9500 GS codenamed D9M-25 will be clocked at 550MHz core and 500MHz GDDR2 on 128-bit memory interface. There is a new package naming known as GB1 for mainstream and in this case it is called GB1-128. For 55nm G92 package is called G3-256.

8 May 2008 - OCZ today announced two new Reaper HPC solutions, the PC3-14400 and PC3-12800 Reaper HPC Series are now available in both 2GB and 4GB dual channel kits. The PC3-14400 and PC3-12800 Reaper HPC Series will be available in 4GB (2x2048MB) and 2GB (2x1024MB) Dual Channel Kits.

7 May 2008 - ASUS launched the world’s first stand-alone color processor with a modularized graphics card – the ASUS Splendid MA3850M; which combines a video enhance card with the ASUS Splendid HD processor and a modularized VGA card. The overall length of the Splendid MA3850M is 27% shorter than generic ATI Radeon™ HD 3850 graphics cards – allowing a perfect fit even for smaller-chassis users.

13 May 2008 - NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0605.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT" : 55nm NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0614.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT" : 65nm Nvidia is getting ready to launch the GeForce 9800 GT on 55nm G92 core soon and the release schedule might be pushed forward to June instead. Apparently, Nvidia plans to clocked the 9800 GT card at 600MHz, like the 8800 GT and same goes to the memory clock at 900MHz and shader clock at 1500MHz. The VGPU is at 1.05-1.1V and on G3-256 package. As we have said before, there will be two versions; one is on 55nm and the other is on 65nm, both same clocks. So how do you tell it is 55nm? Look out for G92-280-B1/H markings on the GPU or look out for 0×0605 device ID in Windows.

13 May 2008 - Inno3D today has introduced i-Chill GeForce 9800GTX with Accelero Xtreme cooler from Arctic Cooling. The cooler comes with triple fan cooling and 5 heatpipes that allows the card to be clocked at 720MHz core and 2300MHz memory.

12 May 2008 - According to a roadmap VR-Zone has seen, the second generation Larrabee might have a chance against Nvidia's future offerings in 2010-11 with a new architecture, many more cores on 32nm process technology and Quad Larrabee cards support. Clearly, Intel's strategy here is to increase the number of cores per GPU and increase the number of Larrabee GPUs supported per platform. This is possible due to their advanced fab and process technology, an area which fabless Nvidia has little control over and has to rely on TSMC's process technology. Indeed, we are eager to see the first hint of Larrabee performance on the current and future games.

12 May 2008 - In view of the Display Port will be the super star in the upcoming future, Dell has launched a monitor and fully support Display Port, and of course the graphics accelerators cannot only be the tracker. Last month Sapphire launched two AMD workstation graphics which support Display Port interface and they are ATI FireGL V7700 and ATI FireMV 2260, both of them are along with the new PCI-E 2.0 interface.

8 May 2008 - ARCTIC COOLING today unveiled the Freezer 7 LP, an Intel CPU cooler designed for media centre users. The heatsink design of the Freezer 7 LP reduces the size of the cooler leaving it only 42mm slim (to the air intake level) / 53mm (with fan holder) and 263g light, almost half the size of usual CPU coolers. There are two heatpipes, 40 fins and an 80mm PWM fan dissipate heat from the CPU core. It offers a 6-year limited warranty and will be available by mid-May 2008. The MSRP is US$ 27.95 / 17,95 € (excl VAT).
