NETGEAR ReadyNAS DuoNetwork Attached Storage for the home
Traditionally, a networked-attached storage (NAS) is used by SMBs (Small and Medium Businesses) and even MNCs (Multi-National Companies) for its ease of deployment, expandability and managability. With the growing number of multi-PC networked homes, it is no wonder manufacturers are coming up with highly affordable and feature-rich NAS devices. These will appeal to this growing group of users.
For those who are unfamiliar, a NAS is simply a hard disk connected and accessible via the network infrastructure. This makes it a central storage point for connected users (clients). It is similar to a File Server but without the bulk and extensive maintenance requirements of a server. It still has an operating system and will have a variety of features. The device usually contains one or more hard disks, which is often arranged into logical, redundant storage containers and for multiple hard drive setups configured using RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks).
The NETGEAR ReadyNAS Duo is the latest addition to the already award-winning ReadyNAS range of advanced network storage devices. It is specifically targeted for home users and compatible with both Windows or Macintosh computers connected on the network.
