It

It's back to our weekly SLS walk about once again, right here at VR-Zone

First, we found the ASUS A8N-E motherboard over at Fuwell. Though the A8N-SLi family of motherboards had been selling in Singapore for quite a while, the A8N-E only came recently. Based on the Nforce 4 Ultra chipset, this motherboard is built for users who don't intend to go SLi, and save on their boards. However, with the availability of an open ended PCIe x4 slot, together with a graphics card fastening clip, it might proof useful for users who want pseudo SLi, in 16x/4x configuration, or just multi-monitor setup. Priced at $ 195, it is considered cheap.

A label found on the board, with highlights of the key features found on this board.

The board from top down. Notice, the black slot, on top of those conventional PCI slot? That is the PCIe x4 slot, and there's even a clip for graphics card.

A closer look at the open ended PCIe x4 slot. Such slots could be used for graphics cards.

The silk-screen markings found on the ASUS A8N-E motherboard. PCB Revision 2.00 for the model we found.

Solid design SATA connectors on this board. No more fragile SATA ports anymore.

A Realtek ALC850 chip controls the 7.1 audio on this board.

This Marvell 88E1111 chip would provide a Physical Hardware Layer to the Nforce 4 chipset, in providing Gigabit LAN.

Like those higher end boards from ASUS, this board comes with a large strip of heatsink, covering the MOSFETs beside the CPU. Such heatsinks will provide additional cooling to these hot MOSFETs.
