The ASUS P5W64 WS Pro is not just a hot choice for a workstation PC, like what it is marketed as with a "Wall Street" Boot-up picture, but also a top toy board among the overclocking enthusiasts. Out of the box, it comes with a good offering in terms of nitty-gritty voltage control: 1.7v for CPU, 2.4v for Memory, 1.8v for i975x chipset (MCH) and 1.5v for FSB. The first voltage to run out on would of course be the Memory, seeing as the trays of high-speed DDR2 out there responding so well to voltage.

Locate the hot spot just below the DIMM slot area:

Pencil the resistor marked above to increase Memory voltage. Original Resistance is 575 ohms. Dropping resistance by 30 ohms increase voltage by 0.1v. Or solder a 20K ohms resistor across, set at maximum of 20k ohms. Reduce resistance to increase voltage. You can measure the Memory Voltage at the MOSFET leg marked above.

The next thing you may run out of is VMCH, the chipset voltage. Locate hot spot beside the Northbridge shown below:

Above picture shows area with Northbridge heatpipe assembly taken off. It will probably be easier to work this way. Pencil the resistor marked above to increase chipset voltage. Original Resistance is 440 ohms. Dropping resistance by 30 ohms increase voltage by 0.1v. Or solder a 20K ohms resistor across, set at maximum of 20k ohms. Reduce resistance to increase voltage. You can measure the MCH Voltage at the MOSFET leg marked above.
